Before JobTrail was software, it was our own mess
The company behind JobTrail started with an owner and three employees. It grew into a mid-size home maintenance business, and growth broke every tool it had.
Jobs lived in a booking system. Quotes and site photos lived in a shared drive. Timesheets, leave and payroll lived in spreadsheets. Customer history lived in somebody’s head. None of it talked to anything else.
So the simple questions became the expensive ones. Is this customer actually making us money? Did that request ever turn into a job? Who is free on Thursday, and are they certified for it? Every answer meant opening three systems and hoping you joined them up correctly.
We looked for one tool that could run all of it. Plenty handled the calendar. None handled the business. So we built one, used it on our own crews first, and fixed what broke.

Hiring crews and keeping them. Spending money on marketing and working out which half of it did anything. Winning a customer, then keeping them from drifting to whoever answered the phone fastest. Catching a complaint before it turns into a review. Holding back enough cash to invest in growth instead of just surviving the month.
Field service is not one workflow. It is a dozen, and every one of them feeds the next. The quote decides the job. The job decides the timesheet. The timesheet decides payroll and the margin you only find out about later. Software that handles the middle step and shrugs at the rest leaves the owner stitching it together by hand, at night, in a spreadsheet.
That is the part we set out to fix, and it is why JobTrail covers more ground than a scheduling app. We were the ones doing the stitching.

Six things we decided early, taken straight from what frustrated us most when we were the ones buying software.
The whole business, not just the schedule
Most tools stop at the calendar and sell the rest back to you a module at a time. Scheduling, customers, quotes, invoices, HR, leave, payroll, fleet, documents and permits are all in JobTrail, and all of them are in every plan.
Screens that match how the work happens
Plenty of field service software looks like it was drawn by people who have never quoted a job on a driveway. We put the thing you need next in front of you, on a phone, with gloves on, in the sun.
Room for how your business actually runs
Real work is full of exceptions - the split visit, the odd shift, the customer who gets their own rate. Roles, permissions, templates and workflows bend to your business instead of asking it to straighten out.
Books that stay in step
JobTrail syncs both ways with Zoho Books, so customers, invoices and payments match on both sides without anyone retyping them. Sync you have to double-check is worse than no sync at all.
The whole story of a customer
Follow a request from the first phone call to the job, the invoice and the payment - then see what that customer has been worth over years, not just this month. That trail is where the name came from.
An AI assistant included, not sold separately
Ask it to find a customer, pull up a job or change a detail, and it does the typing. Every edit comes back as a plain before-and-after for you to approve, and it can never do anything your own account could not. It is in every plan, not a paid add-on.

The people writing the code sit with people who have run crews, priced jobs and chased late invoices, which is why the arguments here tend to be about what actually happens on a Tuesday rather than what looks good in a demo.
We put our attention into the product rather than into profiles of ourselves, so you will not find headshots and job titles on this page. If you want to know what we believe, the software is the honest version of it.
