Field Service Software by Industry
The same platform runs a two-van HVAC contractor and a fifty-person facilities team. Pick your trade to see how it fits the way you actually work.
Find your trade
JobTrail is used across more than 50 field service industries. Each page below shows how the schedule, the job record, and the invoice fit that trade’s week — with the same platform underneath.
Four kinds of field work
Trades differ less than the software market suggests. Most field service businesses fall into one of four operating patterns, and the pattern — not the trade — decides which parts of the platform you lean on hardest.
Home service & repair
Short visits, high job counts, and the same properties year after year.
The job is won on the phone and finished the same day, so what matters is that the tech arrives already knowing the gate code, the unit model, and what happened last visit. JobTrail keeps those on the address itself as Property Details, and shows them in Field Mode on the tech’s phone. Every past job, estimate, and invoice for that property sits on the customer record, so a callback never starts from a blank page.
Crew & seasonal work
Several people moving between properties every day, on a calendar the season decides.
Build a recurring visit once in Weekly mode and JobTrail generates every matching date through the season. The Schedule view puts each team on its own row, so you can see who is loaded and who is free before you promise a date. When someone books leave, they are flagged as you build the crew — before the truck leaves a person short, not after.
Projects & contracting
Work that runs for weeks, with a paper trail that has to survive a dispute.
One job carries multiple scheduled slots, so a three-week job is a single record rather than fifteen. Photos are tagged Before, During, After, and Final, and can take custom tags like “Phase: Foundation”. Permit requirements are matched to the job’s address and suggested for you to apply, so the paperwork is tracked against the work it belongs to instead of a folder nobody opens.
Facilities & contracts
Planned rounds against a contract, plus whatever breaks today.
Rounds go on the calendar for the whole period. On site the crew ticks off each scope line and the job status advances itself — Scheduled, then Ongoing, then Completed — so the office sees progress without calling anyone. A completion certificate can be signed on the spot, and the report builder turns a round of photos into a customer-ready PDF.
What every trade gets
Whichever page you land on, this is the platform underneath it.
One record from call to payment
A request becomes an estimate, the estimate becomes a job, the job becomes an invoice, and the payment closes it. Every step links back, so opening a job shows you the whole cluster in one place.
One calendar for everyone
Day, 3 Day, Week, Month, and a Schedule view with a row per team. Field crew get My Schedule and see only their own work; the office sees all of it, colour-coded by team.
Your people, not a separate app
Employees, departments, leave balances, attendance, and payroll live in the same account as the work. Leave surfaces while you are assigning a crew, which is the only moment it matters.
Your vehicles, not a spreadsheet
Every van carries its own maintenance history, service-due reminders, and scanned documents. Registration and invoice scanning reads the details off the paperwork so you are not retyping them.
A thread on every record
Each job, estimate, and invoice has its own conversation with an inbox and @mentions, plus an automatic log of what changed. Context stays on the record instead of in somebody’s text messages.
Every feature in every plan
There are no add-on modules and nothing is gated behind a higher tier. Plans differ by how many people are on the account — that is the only difference between them.
Common questions
Field service management software runs the work that happens away from your office. One system holds the customer, the schedule, the job, the paperwork your crew fills in on site, and the invoice that follows it. Instead of a calendar app, a spreadsheet of customers, and an accounting tool that never quite agree, the same record moves through every stage. JobTrail also covers the parts most tools leave out — your employees, leave and payroll, your vehicles, and the permits a job needs — so the whole business runs in one account.
Almost certainly. The trades above are the ones we are asked about most, but nothing in JobTrail is trade-specific — there is no HVAC-only field and no landscaping-only screen. If your business sends people somewhere, does work, and bills for it, the platform fits. The services you sell, the custom fields on a property, your report templates, and your permit types are all things you define yourself, so you shape it to your trade rather than the other way round.
No. Every account has the same features and every plan includes all of them — scheduling, jobs, estimates, invoicing, HR and payroll, fleet, permits, reports, and the AI assistant. What changes between trades is the setup: the service list, the property details you capture, and the reports you hand to customers. Nothing is gated behind a trade or a tier.
Yes. Plenty of field service businesses do plumbing and HVAC, or cleaning and building maintenance. You build your own service list, so one account can carry every service you sell. Teams keep each crew on its own calendar row and a job takes whichever services apply, so a mixed business does not need a second system or a second subscription.
Plans start at $39 a month for a solo operator and scale with your team. Every plan includes every feature — scheduling, jobs, estimates, invoicing, HR and payroll, fleet, permits, and the AI assistant. There are no add-on modules and nothing is locked behind a higher tier, so the price you see is for the whole platform. The tiers run Solo at $39 a month for one user, Team at $139 for up to five, Growth at $199 for up to ten, and Scale at $299 for up to fifteen, each with a 14-day free trial.
